US: Bright Streak Observed Over California as SpaceX Crew-11 Re-enters

A bright streak was observed across the night sky over Southern California early Thursday, January 15 as the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule carrying four astronauts made its fiery re-entry before splashing down in the Pacific Ocean off San Diego. The capsule returned NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, along with Japan’s Kimiya Yui and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov, ending the Crew-11 mission about a month early due to a non-emergency medical condition affecting one crew member. NASA said the astronaut was stable and brought back to Earth for further evaluation.

A staff member of the Grand China Aviation Maintenance Co., Ltd. under the HNA Technic performs maintenance on an aircraft at the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) One-Stop Aircraft Maintenance Base in Haikou, south China's Hainan Province, on Nov. 21, 2025. The Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) One-Stop Aircraft Maintenance Base, which started operation in 2022, has performed maintenance service on more than 2,400 aircraft, completed full-body painting for over 280 aircraft, and repaired about 60,000 aircraft components as of the end of October this year. The maintenance base has drawn global clients like Qatar Airways, Royal Air Philippines and Iberia. Under the Hainan FTP's favorable regulations, aircraft entering the region for maintenance are exempt from paying security deposits, and parts imported for repair benefit from a bonded status. The policy support is expected to be amplified following the FTP's official launch of island-wide independent customs operations on Dec. 18. Photo by Zhang Liyun/Xinhua/ABACAPRES

Xinjiang, a region rich in solar and wind energy resources, has vigorously developed the new energy industry in recent years, accelerating the construction of large-scale wind and photovoltaic power base projects. A 750-kilovolt (kV) "power expressway loop," the country's largest of its kind, has taken shape throughout Xinjiang, providing strong support for efficient energy allocation. Today, about one third of the electricity transmitted in Xinjiang comes from clean energy sources such as wind and solar power. It transmits over 270 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity to other regions. Besides, an increasing number of companies are developing clean energy in Xinjiang, driving the region's green development.
